We used gumdrops and toothpicks to make 2-D and 3-D shapes. Then we got to eat the gumdrops!
Our supplies |
We had fun organizing our gumdrops. |
We organized them in different ways. |
4 gumdrops (vertices) and 4 toothpicks (edges) make a square |
A Cube! |
We took the top off of the cube and made a pyramid. |
A 3-D pyramid and a 2-D triangle |
"It looks like a car!" |
We have some creative students in second grade. |
A barbell! |
What a fun lesson! And your kiddos are so cute! :)

ReplyDeleteThere are some very good designs here. Could you make a stop sign out of gumdrops and toothpicks? How many sides would be needed to make a stop sign? Draw it out and count the sides.
ReplyDeleteThe shape of a stop sign is known as an octagon.
Collin Muttley asked if there were any gumdrops left over. Woof.
