What We Learned About Insects

We learned a lot about insects in second grade.  We would like to share our knowledge.  We all made tree maps to organize our writing.  We are also learning how to write main idea, details, and an ending sentence.

Insects have to have food to eat or they will die.

I learned how insects grow.  They grow by stages.  The stages are egg, larva, pupa, and adult.

This tree map is about insect body parts.  Some insects have 4 or 2 wings on their body.  Insects might have antennas and they might not.  All insects have 6 legs on their body.  Insect body parts are: head, thorax, and abdomen.  Insects are all not the same.  Some have spots, stripes, even patterns!

This tree map is about the body parts of an insect.  Insects have 6 legs.  Sometimes insects have 2 wings.  Some have 4 wings.  The three body parts are head, thorax, and abdomen.  Some insects have antennas.  Some do not.   I think most insects have antennas.  This is about insects.

I'm writing this because I need to learn about insects body parts.  How many wings does a dragonfly have?  They have four because they are an insect.  How many legs does every insect have?  They have 6 legs.
